Kunj Embroidered Cushion Cover

As children, we climbed trees. Not for the height itself, but for what the height did to the world. Up inside a neem canopy, the leaves arranged themselves into pattern — the same shape, repeated, held in place by the branches that crossed beneath them. Nobody had designed it. It was simply how the grove worked.

Kunj is that view, laid flat and stitched. Fifteen cells, a leaf in every one, held in a grid the way leaves are held in a canopy. The first GridFolk design is a grove seen from inside a tree.

Material(s):
· Cotton double slub, chosen for its soft handfeel and gently irregular texture.
· Dyed cotton corduroy, chosen for its tactile ribbed surface and rich tonal character.

Technique:
· Layered appliqué with decorative hand stitching
· Embroidery executed by hand.
Minor variations in stitch, texture, and motif placement are inherent and not considered defects.

Sized for 18×18 inch (45×45 cm) cushion inserts.

Kunj works best in spaces that already carry some texture — a well-made sofa, a wood-grain coffee table, a rug with visible weave. On a neutral armchair, it becomes the piece that draws the eye; on a bed, it sits easily at the head of a stack, layered over plainer cushions. The palette — ivory, aged brown, a thread of teal — pairs naturally with cane, brass, terracotta, walnut, and most warm mid-tones.
